Like a stand, or anything else hunting related...like an ATV, or something?

I haven't (know people who have though on public land), and it's good I haven't, cause I get all crazy about that. dry.gif

(I get my gas stolen out of the cars though here at home....it's hunting season, so that is hunting related...kinda. Know who does it..lol...cause we only have 1 criminal in all these parts out here. No job....and always running the roads...Hmmmmm mad.gif )

Anyhow....you ever had a stand or anything stolen? What do you do in those situations....do you just have to take it? (I mean....all you can do, really, is file a report huh? ) I'd be so mad. (It'll probably happen to me now laugh.gif )

I've had quite a number of traps, and some fur, stolen over the years. Most I never saw again, but a few of the traps I managed to recover... That is one of the main reasons I was never too big on trapping on public land.

I haven't had anything stolen, hunting related. Everything I bring with me, stays with me, and comes out with me. Believe me, when you hunt heavily pressured public lands like I do, you don't leave ANYTHING behind! If you do, then it'll be gone within 10-15 minutes. ohmy.gif mad.gif

However one year back in 76 I was bow hunting. Someone took and through a large rock through the back side window of my vehicle. Glass looked like ice all over the back seat.

However what ever we do we get paid back for. Thats just what I thought when I saw that glass on my back seat. I said to myself I finally got paid back for something that I did when I was a kid. Remember a kid is a kid is a kid.

i'm sure someday the person who did that to my vehicle will have something done to them. What goes around comes around as they say.

what did I do as a kid? I put some of those loads in my dads cigerettes. I did not put one in I pushed about 4 small rice looking loads down deep into the cig with a tooth pick, My dad lit up and the entire cigerette exploded. his eyes were all watered and I remember my mom wanting to kill me. He said to my mom "No just let him alone" So I got payed back down the road by someone who through a rock through my window. LOL LOL

Payback are tough. Gee maybe my dad was getting payed back for somethig he did once?

Well, I believe in "Karma" to an extent myself... But if people really do get paid back for things they did when young... then I am still in some pretty "deep kimshe"........... I still remember my mother telling me, "When you grow up and have kids, I hope they are JUST LIKE YOU"...... Well, I had kids..... Man...was I really that difficult?

I think it's pretty sorry business for anyone to steal. I've hear of people who had their stands chained down, and the chains would be cut and stand stolen. That's pretty messed up.

Uncle Buck, I'm a firm believer in karma. (Although...lol..I've got a few paybacks coming my way as well, but, it doesn't outnumber the good I've got coming laugh.gif )
My great uncle out here, when I was a kid, he was still on in years. So, on this property in the woods, he had a stand set up to hunt in because it was close enough to home where he could call for help and it would echo out, if he needed to.
Anyhow, I have this "cousin", and he was bad even when we were kids. He'd come out here, and me and my bro, we lived out here and knew the "rules"...we knew not to touch that stand. Well, everytime he would come over, he would totally disrespect our great uncle and climb all in it and play on it. He kept on and kept on, and I knew my uncle could tell it was mussed with, so, we let him know. (Not so much tattling...just, saving our own hides because we would've got scoffed for it since we were the only kids living out here..we automatically got all the blame) He, of course, wanted to break his legs...but my aunt said it'll work itself out.
And, it did. He got in it messing around, ended up falling (was only a couple of feet off the ground, so he didn't get hurt by the fall), and the metal on it cut him from his belly up to his arm, on his side. It was his payment for disobeying and disrespecting. (He wasn't hurt too bad..just a long scratch. Enough to make him cry and us giggle with "I told you so's" )
(And, we learned why we weren't sposed to be messing with it in the first place..lol, so worked out for "my bro's and my curiosity" too).

Anyhow, yeah..lol..I believe in karma too.

I've had just about every thing stolen while I've been hunting. Deer, game carts, stands, guns, gas, my 2 back tires off my truck and stereo while I was in the woods. The only thing that I got back was my 2 guns that a 14 yr old boy broke out my window and stole out from under my seat. I dont leave anything in my truck anymore and I leave my doors unlocked, 50 mile on a hwy with a broken window in freezing weather sucks.

OUCH! Glad to hear you got your guns back though!

I guess I've been pretty lucky thus far. My young son and I broke down on a fishing trip about 100 miles east of Toronto. We managed to arrange a ride back with a local. I had a .22 rifle in the van but handed it to the gas station owner to lock up for me until the truck was repaired, and I could return for it. I kept my rods, reels and tackle box with me for the trip home, but the suckers who broke into my truck stole all the loose items in the van including my wife's wig and the hat box it was in. I guess some people will steal anything. It stopped me from being so damn trusting. Best wishes.
