In over 50 years of hunting, fishing and trapping, I have been checked one time, and that was while fishing a couple of years ago... I have had game rangers drive past me and wave while I was running my trap line and not stop or check me... My wife, daughter, son, and son in law have all been checked a number of times while fishing and at least once while hunting....... Several years ago a friend and I were calling and passed a warden stopped on a back road standing beside his truck. We thought maybe he was haveing problems so stopped and asked if we could help... Turns out he had just stopped for a "personal break", but we had a couple of coyotes in the back of the truck, and he talked to us about calling and still never asked to see our licenses. Guess he figured we were legal or we wouldn't have stopped............ But have you ever been checked?

Right off the top of my head I'll say four times.
The one time pigger and me got busted. My only time.
It got so cold near 0 degrees and there was a foot of snow on the ground. The wind kicked up so we high tailed to the truck.Forgot to unload our guns and I heard a tap on the window. It was the man.
We were just kids and learned a lesson that day.

I never have hunting, but I did once fishing. Was at a public lake and it was pretty crowded that day (think it was around 4th of July Weekend a while back)...anyhow, he was checking everyones.
That's the only time I can think of.
Well, not true. They also do at the state piers for salty fishing pretty routinely....but, they do everyone (about 40 or so people some times).
I've been checked twice while hunting and probably 10 times while fishing. This is in over 50 years of hunting and fishing. Living in Los Angeles County where there is a large concentration of salt water fishermen, the Dept. of Fish and Game are pretty visable. The problem we have here is that the commercial fishermen catch over 90% of the fish, but little is done to control them. They keep restricting the Sportman who have little impact on the sustainability of fish.

I can only recall one time I ever seen "the man" while hunting...and that was really cause he was looking for someone on adjacent property.
He did ask if "we all" had them, but we didn't even have to pull them out, because as we were he was like, "Alrght, thanks."
I think I haven't run into them too often because of private land (?) .
Wouldn't matter much if he did check me, cause I have my license on me when I go out. (I have forgotten before though. Forgot one day the season before last. LOL..I got in all bloody cause it was in my coat and coat was soaked through with blood. Then, forgot it was in there and washed it with my coat. Found it after, and laid it out to dry. forgot to put it back in the next morning when I went out again.)
Of all the times you guys have been checked for hunting....was it on public land?
I notice people say they get checked out here a lot (public), but, I don't hunt out here much, and usually at places no one can get to unless they're doing an awful lot of walking behind my place. But, I know on all the years I've used leased land..I've never even seen a warden. (cept the one who was looking for his friend)
Fishing though....if it's an event, they're all over the place. Especially on salt water.

I'v never seen a Warden in PA. I'v seen a few of em here in VA, never checked by any, but tipped an occasional brew with em at Camp when they would stop by to get get warmed up by the fire on their way home !!
Only time I was ever checked was twice for Fishing, back when VA had yearly opening "Trout Day".
