Anyone have a game plan for their deer season? lol...I never do really. I just go out and see what comes to dinner, so to speak.

But, I know some already have some picked out that they have been watching and etc., and some like to hunt a certain area at a certain time of the season (like, I hunt bottoms until the acorns are gone).

There any kind of special plan you have?

For me, I guess it's just to go and I'll probably more than likely settle on does. I get out there and that first meat of the season just calls me so I'm always anxious to get that first deer down so I can have some meat that night laugh.gif And usually, that would be a doe.

I am hoping I'll be host in Dec to an out-of-stater...that will be way cool! So, I'm gonna try and find a buck before then for this guy. tongue.gif

Anyhow...sticking to a routine or trying something new? Hunting a buck this year or gonna go for does? Hunting a new area or the same as usual? What's your plans this season?

For me..the same ol same ol. But, that's just fine with me! laugh.gif
Uncle Buck
Most times I look for scrapes. Now I said scrapes not rubs. Usually right off of a logging road under a lone tree. The Tree branches at deer height are broken off. there is scraping in the ground. You will see the hooves and the rack print is pressed into the scrape too. Find this and sit close by and you will even get a buck In December. the buck will deposit secretions from glands on the branches and in the scrape too. The doe will find these and lay down and wait for a buck to return. Hence the buck visits them a few times a day. If someone does not shoot him first you have a chance of getting a buck.

Funny uncle buck should say that.99 percent of my scrapes are found by logging roads and mostly under a hemlock. My plans are to get a buck early in archery then spend time on grouse and turkey.
