Today sure as hell wasn't the best of days to be Hunting. The rain quit around here about 5 or 6am, but the wind started howling like crazy about 8am. I might have gotten in 1/2hr of half way decent hunting time in the whole time I was out (I said the hell with it after around 3hrs). blink.gif

I recon the upside is the visibility has probably doubled in most areas around here with the leaves really being ripped off the trees. biggrin.gif

The only damn thing I seen in my 3hrs out was 2 stupid assed squirrels and as I was leaving two neighbor Farmer's Dogs came in behind me and spooked the begeebies out of me. They passed me and kept on trucking as it was apparently too damn windy for them as well !! laugh.gif

I can feel for you 99er I woke up about 0300 and it had been raining all night. The wind started to blow aroud 0730 and the rest of the day we had wind, rain and snow. My son and I had planned to go bow hunting but that got canceled.

The trees are just about bare now and like you said that is a good thing.

Got to do some bonding this week-end with my 31 year old son. He and 26 other predator hunters converged on Pa Clinton County for a predator hunt. The weather was bad all week-end.

Knowing that the wind is the predator caller enemy I decided on Friday to do a hour or so of ruffed grouse hunting with him. We jumped in the vehicle and by 3 O Clock PM we were small game hunting. In a 35 minute period we flushed 8 ruffed grouse and 1 wood c o c k. Not bad for a windy day. On the drive back to the motel we saw flock of 10 turkey and 3 deer. I almost harvested the deer with my GMC Jimmy. Then the heavy rains came Friday Evening until Saturday at 12:00 PM. Many of us did not hunt predators until the rain stopped. While it was still windy (45 MPH) the group ended up with 9 coon, 8 red fox, and 4 gray fox by end of hunt Sunday 12:00 PM. No one could get the elusive coyote to come in to their calls. I lucked out and had a coon come to one of my rendetion of the woodpecker distress sounds. I still have a bobcat tag that I need filled. However will my wife understand the need to have this fulfilled? LOL LOL
Probably not but this just how things are I guess.

Good luck UB.I'd sure like to see a pic of a bobcat you tagged. Those things amaze me every time I see one.
