Full Version: Protecting your scope

Since I shelled out a tidy sum for a new Leupold Long range scope, I have been moved to buy a ScopeCoat FlackJacket cover to protect it. The cover is made of thick elastic neoprene and covers the entire scope except where it attaches to the base. This is a bit of a departure from the usual end caps and flip-up lens covers that I have used in the past. Am I the only paranoid person dreading that first scratch or dent in my $800 scope out there???

Maybe. I want scope covers that cover the important part of the scope, i.e., the lens. The Butler creek covers work well for me even when using the scope for hunting. I want the lenses covered all the time except when I shoot; when I'm ready to shoot, I want immediate access to my scope.

I either have the BUTLER CREEK, or the plastic "cover caps", most with the see-thru haze lens, on the majority of my scopes... When I replace them or buy new ones, I generally get the BUTLER CREEK bikini covers. But when actually hunting I have any scope covers in my pocket.
