Full Version: buck tags in Bama

For the first time since I can remember, Alabama is gonna start issuing us buck tags and limits. I haven't read too much about it yet, having not found very much info yet, but, my Dad told me that we are only allowed,(I believe it was) 2 bucks now. Prior it was always a buck and doe a day for the season, no real limit until your season is over.

For me, lol..it really doesn't change much. I haven't shot a buck in a million years. But , and I swear it's true, the mentality of Bama "alpha males" is "Does are for wimmen and kids"....so, I bet it put a damper on their hunting spirit. I'm thinking maybe...Bama says we're slightly overpopulated, and with the mentality of every dude I've hunted with over the years....I'm betting not too may people are shooting does anyway. So, maybe they're trying to get rid of some does???

I dunno...it threw me for a loop really. I'm not all upset because , like I say, it doesn't really affect me (I don't eat antlers not "male organs" so what do I care...) but, it's kinda a bummer being that we had such freedom beforehand and now we're pretty regulated.
Anyhow, thought I'd share what I heard today.

That is interesting.......and speaking of that...fact is, over the years I have probably taken more does than I have bucks... I generally preferred them for eating...and unless it was a really nice buck, I often let him walk, and took the doe that came along later.

ya, let us know when you find out more. I'm a little curious of how the general hunting population feels about this new law. unsure.gif

I've been looking cause I know it's gonna go over like a stinky fart at a frilly tea party. I've asked a few folks in person if they heard the new changes and they acted like the end was near. They get like that anyway, the guys I talk to, so, I've really been hoping to find some Bamians talking about it in a forum somewhere online.
