I don't, and haven't, hunted from a camp myself... However, I have several friends that do...and all of them tell me that before the actual hunting begins, the first doe taken is "camp meat"..... For those of you who hunt from a camp with other hunters, do you first take "camp meat" ?

Actually, 99er has told me a few wild tales of the deer camp from days gone by. I just sat there like, " blink.gif " and was sworn to secrecy. whistle.gif

TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFLMAO!! laugh.gif Ah, the memories!

As far as camp meat..no , we didn't use any deer for it. When we had "sleep overs" that involved several of us, we would make a stew with squirrels, or this one guy'd make a chili (but you wanted to stay far away from it). The usual fare mostly consisted of beenie weenies and vienna sausages and crackers (urk). When we weren't broke however, there was the AMAZING ranchhouse that had the best food ever, all home cooked, and we would eat that. We could drive into the town too and get burgers from Hardees (always the same place cause only one the guys liked).
The ranchhouse though....they had this double cheeseburger my dad would always order for me, to my disdain...it was so big I could not get my mouth around it to take a bite..lol. It was a total fork dish. It was good, but I hated that he wouldnt let me get a normal one. Course, I could probably fit my mouth around it now.....
But, they closed down a few years ago...pity too, they were really good.
