When there is a bad snow fall, or really bad weather, the coons may "den-up" for a few days to wait it out... Some people believe that, like a bear, they will hibernate... But, coons don't hibernate... They will seldom stay holed-up more than a few days...then they will be out searching for food... If you have coon sets out, just leave them...as soon as the weather starts to clear, they will be back out again...however, they may begin to spend more time in the upland country and less along the creeks and low lands. This is the time of year when you start to find more and more of those big old "silver-tip" ridge runner boar coon in your fox and coyote sets.
