It seems that anyone who is serious about predator calling will, over time, accumulate a sizable collection of mouth-blown calls. Many are fairly inexpencive, most are reasonably small, and there are quite a number of different styles, types, materials, sounds, and makers out there...and it seems there are more and more coming along all the time... But whether you own 5 calls, or 5000 calls, you will have one that you use more than any other... It may be a standard production or factory call, or it may be a custom call...but it is one you have used many times, have complete faith in, and it always accompanies you any time you take to the field after predators... For me that call is an old "BURNHAM BROS FOX CALL" (I believe that this same call is known as a "C-3" today)........ What is that call for you ?

My favorites and I do not leave home without them is the Crit-R-Call plastic Peewee, Standard, and Magnum open reed calls. They can talk the talk and take a beating. I even keep a spare set in my calling box should I lose one while out in the field. the Peewee and Standard come in two colors. Green and orange! The orange are used for night time predator calling. Makes it easier to find if you drop one on the ground at night time.

I wish I had a dollar for every critter I ever called in with a Crit-R-Call open reed call. Things are not expensive either. A PLASTICO call it works great in freezing Temp and can take a beating too. Any new predator hunters out there make sure you get yourself a Crit-R-Call. The Pee-wee would be a good one to start out on.

I agree... The CRIT-R-CALL is a "must have" for any serious predator caller... It's inexpencive, easily carried, can produce a wide range of sounds with a bit of practice, and won't experience the dreaded "reed-freeze" in seriously cold temps.
