Curious if anyone here uses any sort of good luck charms while hunting and what sort of item is it ??

I'm not really a superstitious person, but I will have to fess up to sometimes wearing a necklace of sorts ... it's a long narrow thin plastic "arrowhead looking" thing on a simple shoestring cord. I really don't wear it for luck, more the memories of an old hunting bud (John), who was like a 2nd father to me in Virginia. I only wear it during Deer Rifle Season (when we did the majority of our hunting together) and I guess it's my way of sort of still taking John along on the "hunt".

What is really strange is that I went back to Hunting Camp, right after leaving John's Funeral Service a few years back, and I found it just laying there on the ground right next to the front steps leading to the porch on the Cabin; it seemed to have been put there just for me to find.

Bawana, if you happen to stumble across this post, just ... "shutup and just pass the damn peanuts", would ya ?? mellow.gif

I know people that do...off hand I can think of 2. They carry small "medicine bags"...but no, I never have.

I don't carry any sort of luck charm. I used to carry a Zippo I bought long time ago from some lawn mowing money I saved up. I carried that thing everywhere, even hunting, but I don't have it anymore.

I like the idea of good luck charms, or memento charms. I'm kinda sad I don't have one myself.

I have carried religous things with me in the deer woods. A small 1 inch by 1 inch bible in my pocket with a few of well known versus. when i as a catholic a realic from a shrine.
Now that I am Baptist and of the Protestant faith:
I visted Myrtle Beach this year I went into a religous shop at Broadway. Found a dog tag on a chain that had U. S. Coast Guard on it. One side has the "Prayer of Salvation" The other side with the USCG on it has the bible verus "Joshua 1:9. Kind of neat looks like the dog tags one wears in the military.

The dog tags are called The Shield of Strength.

Sometimes I'm out there hunting at 2-4 Am for fox alone. Need to have something with me just in case anything can happen to you. All kinds of dangers are in the wild during deer season and hunting in the early mornings. Need to have my shield of strength hanging around my neck against my chest under my long johns. I don't even notice it' there when it gets cold out there.

I wear it everywhere even when not hunting. Put it on first before I place my glasses on my face.

Might be a good gift for someone you know or yourself if your into that kind of stuff.

The only things that I always take hunting, rifle, bullets, knife, tag. Other then needing those items I figure most of us make our own luck.
