Full Version: All it takes is one hunt and you will be hooked

If you live in a state that permits night time hunting for predators like Pa once you call one over snow condtions at night you will be hooked.

Now you do have to camo up in white. One can even use painter bibs and or a sheet. I use the white vet horse tape to cover my firearm.

Now all you need is a childs toy, cat toy, dog toy, or a predator bulb squeaker. Just squeak it about 20 times and wait a minute. Then squeak it another 20 times, etc etc. There is no known tempo you have to use. you just want to simulate a field mouse. Everything eats field mice so you don't know what will come into your call. A coyote, red fox, gray fox, bobcat and or coon. Yep they all "Love those Meases to Pieces!"

Picture this your squeak with your bulb squeaker . All of a sudden a red appears on the horizon. You don't need a light since it's twilight conditions out there at night time. It Reynard bounds in and travels fast toward you position. 100 yards, 80 yards, 50 yards, 30 yards and now he is in shotgun range. He Reynard will always come into the wind. One can drop him at 100 yards with a 22 WMR but I like to use a shotgun. At 30 the white gun comes up and you fire. You miss and Reynard takes off you fire a second follow and a third and then Reynard flips and lands on his back. Remember to use larger shot then # 4 shot in the winter since they are well prime then.

Instead of sitting in the house at night after a snow fall get out there and give Reynard a try durng tiwilght condtions over snow. Here in Pa a furtakers license cost $20.00. You get one red fox now and it will pay for that furtakers license. You get a gray fox and you will end up with $40.00 in 2007.

Gotta agree UB... Predator calling is addictive... The very first time I tried it I called in and took a nice bobcat that the fur dealer gave me something over 100 dollars for (don't recall the exact amount now as that was back in the mid 70's)...but after that I was fair hooked.

Hopefully I will be back in back good health and be able to get out and do some Fox & Yote hunting in the next few weeks. I really enjoy being out in the snow, but when it gets lower than around 15, my butt will be staying in.

I'v got two hooded snow camo ponchos that haven't even been used yet; I'm sure I can get into mine without any problems, it'll be fun to watch and see iffin Bawana can get into the one I bought for him. I'm really anxious to finally get to use the 300 Savage with the red-dot Mueller Scope and custom 125gr Bawana loaded ammo. I'm also hoping that Bawana can call in another Bobcat, this time for me to get a whack at one.

UB ... Bawana has become a "believer" in the Mouse Bulb Squeeler, since he called in and nailed a Bobcat using it about a month or so back.

Outstanding!!!!!One of the easiest and deadliest calls one can use. I like the Quakerboy bulb squeaker. however someone gave me one of the Lohman mouse squeakers and that sounds real good. The only thing it does not even have to sound good.

Some callers will tape it on the gun barrel to use as a coaxer. You know they see a fox when calling with a rabbit call. Then they squeak him iin real close in for a shot. I like to use it as my regular call. Those fox can hear it 500 yards away. If you see the Lohman black bulb mouse squeaker give that one a try too.
