If you live in a state that permits night time hunting for predators like Pa once you call one over snow condtions at night you will be hooked.
Now you do have to camo up in white. One can even use painter bibs and or a sheet. I use the white vet horse tape to cover my firearm.
Now all you need is a childs toy, cat toy, dog toy, or a predator bulb squeaker. Just squeak it about 20 times and wait a minute. Then squeak it another 20 times, etc etc. There is no known tempo you have to use. you just want to simulate a field mouse. Everything eats field mice so you don't know what will come into your call. A coyote, red fox, gray fox, bobcat and or coon. Yep they all "Love those Meases to Pieces!"
Picture this your squeak with your bulb squeaker . All of a sudden a red appears on the horizon. You don't need a light since it's twilight conditions out there at night time. It Reynard bounds in and travels fast toward you position. 100 yards, 80 yards, 50 yards, 30 yards and now he is in shotgun range. He Reynard will always come into the wind. One can drop him at 100 yards with a 22 WMR but I like to use a shotgun. At 30 the white gun comes up and you fire. You miss and Reynard takes off you fire a second follow and a third and then Reynard flips and lands on his back. Remember to use larger shot then # 4 shot in the winter since they are well prime then.
Instead of sitting in the house at night after a snow fall get out there and give Reynard a try durng tiwilght condtions over snow. Here in Pa a furtakers license cost $20.00. You get one red fox now and it will pay for that furtakers license. You get a gray fox and you will end up with $40.00 in 2007.
