Hey guys.

im new here, i just registered.I live in sharjah (U.AE) im 13 ,me and my freind hunt birds in his compund we got a few pigeons last time, we cant realy hunt anywhere else cas everywhere is just desert, no woods n stuff.

Anyway i just got my shadow 1000 and i got a cheap scope for 70 dihrams(10 pounds) , well it sucked, it was golden eagle.duno if youve heard of it ? Igot random groups and everything , i know it was the scope and not the gun because when i took it off and used the sights it was great i got all bulls and in 3 shot groups 2 went through the same hole.So can you sugest any good scopes for me?

Thx.
btw any1 else got a shadow 1000, what do you think of it? got any good kills with it?

Well, I don't own a Shadow 1000, but have heard some good things about this rifle... Seems to me that someone here, bythebook, if I recall, shoots a Shadow 1000...and he may be able to offer you a bit more insight into this gun.......... But, I do own and shoot several air rifles and air pistols, and let me say a few things about the scope... ALWAYS buy a scope rated for airguns when you buy one to mount on an air rifle... Because of the "reverse recoil" of an air rifle, air rifle scopes are made a bit differently (otherwise companies would not even bother making special scopes for air rifles), and air rifles can often destroy a scope that would have worked just fine on your .30-06, or even harder kicking rifle... Trust me on this. The first time I was told that, I thought that the person telling me was full of it, because if the scope could handle a "kicker" like a .30-06, a little air rifle sure wouldn't hurt it...so I spent about 100 bucks on a regular rifle scope (just like the one on my .308), mounted it on my air rifle, took it out to sight in, and it lasted about a dozen shots before the cross-hairs came loose........... As for which scope to buy, that is a decision only you can make...but as long as you buy only scopes that say they are made for use on air guns you should not have any problems... Some companies that make airgun scopes at a price of around 50 dollars (about 24.5 British Pounds) or less are... BSA, Tasco, Crosman, NcSTAR, Barska, Bushnell, Beeman, Tech Force, Gamo, Daisy, and Winchester...... A good many other compaines also make air rifle rated scopes, but most are considerably more expencive....................................... And Hey, @v&rAge JOe.... Welcome to the forum.

Yep, an air rifle will beat a standard rifle scope to death in a hurry, even faster if it is a twin-spring rifle.

Surprisingly, the lowly Tasco, butt of many a joke and jeer in the powder firing world, is a decent air 'scope. Personally, I don't care for the BSA's, but I am a big fan of Bushnell and, although I have not used them, have heard many good comments about the Tech Force 'scopes from some friends.

@v&rAge JOe welcome to the forum. Mongojoe is right I have a Shadow 1000 and am quite happy with it. I guess there are better rifles out there but I have killed black birds at 80 yards from a bench rest when they have landed in a bush near my range. So far I have killed starlings, blackbirds, and several ground squirrels with it at ranges from 25 yards to 80.

I do agree with Joe about the scope I have a Bushnell 3 to 9x 40 on mine. When you rest your gun on something to take a shot try to keep the object you are resting it on behind where the barrel pivots you will get your best accuracy this way.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.
