I see a rabbit up and a log sunning it's self and i put one in it and before i could get it the fox got it. this happen 3 more times and i was not mad, i was kind of happy cause you don't see many fox's. Has this ever happen?

Never happend to me, but it sure sounds like that Fox found his "free meal ticket" !! wink.gif biggrin.gif

As much as I like to eat Rabbit, I do believe that Fox would have been "toast" after he laid his lips on the 1st one !!!! laugh.gif

you can't kill foxs in FL or run after them.

We can hunt or trap them in VA; their season runs from Nov.1 till Feb 29th.

Any ideas why ya'll can't hunt them there ??

Speaking of "odd wildlife laws"... Where I am, up until a couple of years ago, you could not take red fox during the fur season, and I always turned several loose each season, but about 45 miles west of me, across Interstate Highway 35, you could... So, people living along the highway on the east side couldn't harvest red fox, but they could walk 50 feet across the highway and take them, and it's all in Oklahoma... Go figure.

we've got a big old gray fox that lives in the wooded area between the neighbors house and ours here in VA. He must be well fed because i've never had an issue with trash... and the most harm he'll do is tease the shepard when he is on his runner lines. I consider him the master of our woods and i dont think i'd ever take a shot at him!

now the deer... i could shoot them from my bedroom window if i werent in city limits!

I have shot the reds before, but now not so much..or not at all. I do want to get one of each game specie for mounting, just cause they're so pretty, or either a pelt per. But, I don't actively hunt them, myself.

I always thought you FL guys could trap and kill them, but just not use dogs. We can't use dogs either....not sure if any states can anymore, but not sure.
fatty chatty
Sounds kinda funny picturing it but I agree with 9er, that thing would have been toast. Them and coyotes decimated our rabbit population. If your not allowed to hunt them in FL its good you obeyed your laws though.
