Anyone that does use cable restraints for coyotes where they are legal. make sure you check your traps every 24 hours and not 36 as in my case prescribed by the Pa game laws.

the coyotes was chewing right through the cable to free it's self. had I visited the cable restraint set 36 hous I may have just ended up with a chewed cable with noe coyote in it.

As far as fox goes it's OK. However coyotes yep they will chew the stainless cable to get free.
Hands
That's a good tip! Makes sense they'd do that, but would never have thought it as an option.

talking about yote choppers??????

I attended a seminar by one of the PGC trappers at PGC headquarters a few years back.

He got to talking about the pecking order of coyotes. The Alpha's male and female have the pups and the Bravo and the Charley pecking order take care of the pups.

He told of how he dispatched coyotes in leg hold traps. He would slowly walk his hands up the back spine of the coyotes and then with one quick snap on the neck with his hands it was all over. Now when he did this with the Bravo and the Charley's they did nothing. He walked his hand up the spine and snap.
Now if the coyote in the leg hold trap happen to be one of the Alpha males and or female. You would end up getting bit.
