Some lures are somewhat time consuming and/or complicated, with "unusual" ingredients that would have to be ordered.... But here is an easy, and VERY good one for beaver. This is the beaver lure I used more than all others combined.... Take several dried, and ground, beaver castors. Put these into a jar. Pour in enough glyscerine to cover, then about half that much again, and stir well... Let it "age". The longer it sets and ages, the better it will be. Stir it well before useing..... For a bit of a "change up", you can add a drop or two(depending on the amount of lure you made) of Poplar Bud Oil.
For coyotes, here is one of the best lures I have ever used. This "secret recipe" was given to me by a very old trapper who was also one of my mentors. When he passed this recipe to me he was long retired from many years trapping for the government, and at that time was trapping for himself... He was also the best trapper I ever knew, and a fine gentleman............... Take several beaver tails, and cut them up in a large jar. (Do not add anything else.)... Let this "rot down" over the summer... A thick, dark "oil" will form on top. Skim this oil off and put into jars or lure bottles. This oil is the lure... Let the jar set, and in time it will produce more of this "oil"... You can keep skimming off the oil until it stops produceing it.... It needs no preservative.
Of course, don't overlook good old sun rendered fish oil. Besides being a good coon lure, it works for other predators as well.
