wow game no longer abundant in your county of your state. Use to be that Ringneck hunting and quail hunting use to be tops in this county. All native birds are all gone now. However just think how the youngster get bored because a dad might take them small game hunting and they see nothing. No rabbits, no ringneck, no quail.
Everyone needs to look at their local county they live in and say to themselves. "OK just what is abundant in my county to hunt?"
If thats the cse in my county it's Red Fox, Dove, Chucks, Geese, and Crow. Now knowing this? This is what you need to start the youngster off on. You have to get to enjoy just whats in your area. Especially now with the gas prices.

When I was young prairie chickens were abundant here...and there was a season for them with fairly liberal bag limits... But now, you seldom see them. Pheasants have moved into the previoiously prairie chicken habitat. This, along with the ranchers burning off the prairie lands to hasten the production of prairie hay and grazeing, are the two main reasons given for the decline of the prairie chickens. Also it seems that up on the flatlands you see hawks on about every telephone post nowadays...and eagles, both bald and golden, are a common sight there today, where 30 or 40 years back they were almost never seen... And there is no longer a prairie chicken hunting season here now due to the decline.
